Haven't had a meaningful post in a long, long time. Being in Bremerton tonight reminded me yet again of how much I truly loathe this place. Almost certain that I severed the only tie that kept me emotionally connected these past six months or so. This, among other things, only reinforces my feelings to leave this town, and even this state. Still not sure where/when I'm going, or how I'm going to get there. Perhaps the first truly existential moment I've ever experienced.
Recently picked up (and couldn't put down) Jack Kerouac's 'On The Road'

The other day, I'm sitting in the lobby of the Science hall, minding my own business and studying for a quiz which is about half an hour away. Across the room there are about 3 or 4 seemingly douche-y kids studying as well. All of the sudden, one of them makes eye contact with me and asks me if "I'm part of the Republicans Club". Keep in mind that there were a few other kids on either side of me, and I could only assume that the question was aimed at one of them. When it came to my attention that the question was, in fact, directed towards me, I could only bring myself to respond with a stunned "No." Here I am, a clearly sloppy, unshaven, out of shape kid with ripped jeans and shoes with marijuana decals, who looks like he hasn't showered in 3 days (which is also pretty accurate). I don't even know what to make of this. To the untrained eye I make a pretty damn convincing Republican? Who knows? Fuck off. |
